Shipping Information

When will my order be shipped?
If an order is placed by Friday, ti usually ships on Mondays and Tuesdays, to arrive at your home on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. We do not like to ship later than Monday or Tuesday, because we do not want to risk having the package sit somewhere over the weekend and spoil. However, if you must have an order in time for the weekend, and the order was placed too late for Monday or Tuesday shipping, please call our emergency shipping number (Mike's cell phone) at (518) 222-5166 and we will see what we can do to get it to you in time.

How much will it cost to ship my order?
We charge no more than our costs for packaging, ice packs, and shipping. We have worked hard to find the least expensive method of shipping and to minimize the packaging. All of our packages are shipped in insulated boxes with one, two, or three ice packs, depending on the size of the order and the outdoor temperature. Packaging and shipping can be expensive, and so it is cost effective to fill a box rather than order one or two small items. You can also save a dollar or two if you have the order shipped to a business address instead of a residence. Because we charge you no more than our costs for your packaging and shipping, we do not know the exact dollar figure until the order is assembled and ready to go. Expect to be charged the following estimated prices:

Yellow Zone (1 Day): A box of 5 to 20 lbs. of meat and 4 lbs. of ice packs will cost about $18 to $20 to ship. Shipping Method: UPS Ground will arrive the next day.

Light Brown Zone (2 Days): A box of 5 to 20 lbs. of meat and 4 lbs. of ice packs will cost about $18 to $25 to ship. Shipping Method: UPS Ground will arrive in 2 days.

Green Zone (2 Days): A box of 5 lbs. of meat and 4 lbs. of ice packs will cost about $38 to $46 to ship. For a large order, a box with 20 lbs. of meat and 4 lbs. of ice packs will cost about $58 to $75 to ship. Shipping Method: UPS 2-Day will arrive in 2 days.

Dark Red Zone (2 Days): A box of 5 lbs. of meat and 4 lbs. of ice packs will cost about $38 to $46 to ship. For a large order, a box of 20 lbs. of meat and 4 lbs. of ice packs will cost about $58 to $75 to ship. Shipping Method: UPS 2-Day will arrive in 2 days.

Orange Zone (2 Days): A box of 5 lbs. of meat and 4 lbs. of ice packs will cost about $49 to ship. For a large order, a box with 20 lbs. of meat and 4 lbs. of ice packs will cost about $81 to ship. Shipping Method: UPS 2-Day will arrive in 2 days.

How will my order be shipped?
All of our meat is shipped frozen. But have no fear about quality—the executive editor of a national magazine told us, "I was talking to [famous West Coast chef and restaurant owner], and I told her that your pork frozen is better than any pork that I have ever had fresh." And you know all of those nice reviews we have received in Food & Wine, Business Week, etc.? All of the samples we provided to those writers were frozen.

The reason we freeze our pork is because we are a very small farm. It is simply not possible for us to have our USDA-approved butcher cut and package the meat, and then have us turn it around and get it delivered to our customers all within a day or two. By immediately flash-freezing the meat, we can ensure that the pork is of the highest quality when it is thawed for your family in your kitchen. In comparison, some companies refrigerate the meat for several days before shipping it, or they freeze meat that has been refrigerated for several days but not sold, and so it is not in the best condition when it is received by customers.
